WEEK-end island update

The beaches are rather empty at this time of the year...
Clouds and rain a good part of the week,
this is Sat. noon at Sheraton beach.
Jenna and I went out to get some nature time after she worked the 5am shift
and I had a violin concert at 3pm.  The water was cooler, but we went in!
There were SOME people on the beach down to the side, and some surfers.

Sat. morning, we went to the mall and did a walk-a-thon w/ the cubs that I work
with at church.  These are the BOY scouts here, Jess' didn't have his shirt yet, borrowed
Jordan's for the picture.  The lady on the right is Jesse's seminary teacher, Auntie Francis.
She raised $1,000 for this fund raiser, HERSELF, amazing!!!  Aaron was there, but didn't
stand in the picture, too early in the day for him?
Thurs. evening we fed the missionaries...
But Jesse had to be at work at 5pm,
SO we met them at Subway and ate dinner before Jesse went onto the clock.
GOOD dinner, everyone agreed!!
Jenna and I had Relief Society Enrichment that night too.
Learned how to cook BEANS from our food storage...  good class!

Hula Moves...

Look fast!  I'm actually performing the HULA with my group!!  YEAH for me!!!

Harvest Festival-Senior Hawaii Style

I got up early to perform 9am w/ the Senior Ukulele group for their Harvest Craft/Food Fair.
'Tis the seasons of fall festivals here TOO!  No APPLE HILL, but we have a Coconut
Festival and craft and art shows going on all over the island...  My students are
playing violin NEXT Sat. at the art show.
I play ukulele and violin with this group.  We sound better on pitch w/ our
singing when I am playing the melody on the violin.
THEN, I changed costumes and had a DEBUT' as a HULA dancer!!!  I survived it!!
I was actually a bit nervous for some reason, you know, random flanging my arms around
in the air telling a story to dance w/ Hawaiian music and words being sung,
SO NO!  I cannot usually tell where we are heading w/ the story until the others lead out!???
This was talking about the the waves at Nawiliwili, notice my RED/PINK lipstick
for the stage!
I kinda liked doing the hula tho, and I only looked 1/2 retarded,
Sharon/Kates/Jordan came to watch and they actually said I looked ok...  Amazing!!
I now have a REAL mu mu and this was a borrowed outfit.
This is how far the contractors have gotten w/ the building, SO it should almost be
quiet when Jerry/Mark get here!?!?  Indoor work is quiet-er!  This is right outside
our kitchen window.

A real day OFF!

FINALLY, Jenna and I had a day off together...  SO we first went to the beach,
cloudy, so no pictures...  Then we moved the furniture and mopped the floor.
This is a bit of a circular rotation of our small living space...  Needed a change?!
Jesse fresh in from college, he locked his keys in the car... BUT he IS a BOY SCOUT
and worked w/ his computer cord and got 'em out and drove home, YEAH Jesse!!
SO---  WHAT are you going to be for Halloween?
Mother/Daughter lunch out for Sharon's bday.  A Thai place that was
DELICIOUS, I've never had Thai, I kinda thought all Asian was the same,
SILLY me!  NOPE, there's Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, AND Thai!!!
The BEST coconut soup I've EVER tasted.  Sharon wants to REALLY promote
this place 'cuz she and Andy were on their mission in Thailand and they have
had to fly to Honolulu to get good Thai food where Erik works...
Hair cut and color, THANKS Jenna!  Needed a change!!!
The back view...  FINALLY all one length!
Jenna ran and worked out, snuba-ed at Poipu this morning and layed out
at the Sheraton beach w/ me and the Del Sol girls.  Now she's going to a bday party
AND a baby shower tonight...  Busy on her last of 4 days off!
A NICE smile from JESSE!!  Thanks Jess...  per Michael's request.

WHAT? The holiday season has started!!...

Out come the Halloween decorations to welcome in the fall/winter holiday season!
Jenna pointed out that she likes how they all seem to flow into each other for about
the next six months of celebrating!  GOOD point Jenna, another reason for ongoing parties!!!
We do BOTH here, harvest is the scarecrow and halloween is that witch and the pumpkins are the blending element!  Politically/holiday correct?!
OK, the middle part of the previous picture is the Vita Mix on the other side of
the counter...  NOT meant for the holiday picture, but I had told Jax that I would blog
a picture of this.  IT is now my BEST friend in the kitchen...  Michael is my REAL best
friend in life, but this Vita Mix is top of the kitchen list.  ANYONE with babies should have
this to make baby food...  And it costs $365 and a 7 yr. warranty...  SO, that is a Jamba Juice
everyday for a year for $1 each!!!  Makes soups, ice cream, smoothies, salsa, peanut butter,
GETTIN' the picture?  Good item for any kitchen, buy it at Costco when they have it rotating
through!  GREAT for a Christmas list...!
Jenna got her hair colored and cut bangs...  She's not sold on 'em, but they are a cute change.
MOM/JENNA, make up, bangs in Jenna's room, Jesse taking the picture w/ the flash in the
mirrow.  SMILE!!
NO bangs, Silly Jesse, and the throat view from an "arm" photo, "cheese!"
It's a rainy day and Jenna just got back from surfing, she's off work for 4 days
and Jesse has an English paper due and needs to work on it, so he's fresh back
from school and NOT excited about working on it...
I know, EAT first!!  How many grapes can YOU put in your mouth before chewing?
26 in Jesse's mouth.  He just has to be careful to not swallow 'cuz he can swallow
his vitamins w/o water and they just go down!?!?  So this was TOO many grapes....
Jenna w/o bangs, she pulls 'em back most of the time still.  Jesse practicing his "cool" look.
Don't even know what Jenna is eating here, more throat for me!!!
Love you Dad Michael and we miss you!!  Here's the blog you requested to see what's news in
our lives here on the island...  4 weeks gone is a LONG time!   LOVE, YOUR Aloha Ohana

Thursday Oct. 2 was Joy's bday and we ate together for
Downtown RSVL breakfast and Chevy's dinner.
A FUN day!
Teri and I buzzed up to Apple Hill for a piece of pie and apple salad/chicken sandwich.
ALL the fall traditions!!!  YUM!  It rained on the way down, SO fall has started??
Michael drove for 4 hrs. Friday night to come up and get me...  Mainland traffic!!!
We bbsat Boy Michael/Rebecca's girls on Sat. during afternoon gen. conf.
They are SO entertaining and fun!  Say "CHEESE!"
After lunch at Olive Garden, we left for the bay area and standby w/ 3 seats left...
I got ON!!  Sunday morning!  Thank you JENNA, AGAIN!!
Michael is living mainland side right now working back with Technical writing
and refinery computerization.  He's staying w/ his folks.  Hard to be
apart-but it IS a good job and we are thankful for it.  See some more of you all SOON!!!?
Thanks for the kind, hospitable FUN we had!!!  Aloha...

I'M BACK!!...

Went to SLC to spend the weekend w/ Grpa/Grma for Grpa's #82 bday.
A little HINT...  NO blogging usually means "I'm OFF island..."  BUT this
past visit Jesse erased the TOTAL computer SO we would have not blogged anyways-
LOST all our pictures/music/programs/teaching stuff/school papers, I consolded him
telling him I could dig way deep and STILL love him as a SON!!
OK, back to the FUN part...  Took the redeye to LAX/SLC and was at  Grpa's for
LUNCH on Sept. 24, his bday!!  Thanks Jenna for those flight bene's!!  We celebrated
w/ Betty and Reid at Marie's for dinner and pie.  Stuffed FULL!
We enjoyed the fall colors by going to Julie's HUGE log cabin for Sunday
lunch and fun.  Two of her boys were bday celebraters too that weekend!
This is Brent backing down the rocky driveway to get Grpa/Grma to the
front door.  Made it!!
This area is full of snow in the winter, two of Julie's kids and family dog.
Brent pulling the van back up the driveway...  Grpa/Grma are in the van
and they made it safe and sound!!!  Julie taking a picture of the colors
COLORS!!!
BIG things moving down SLC streets...  We got pulled over.
HUGE!!
We went to Sundance w/ Jerry & Nancy for a colorful Sat.  Provo Canyon.

That Sat. afternoon I got to attend the Women's General Conf. w/ Grma Pat and
Julie.  20,000 mormon women!!!   A total mormon fashion show!!!
What a HUGE crowd and ALL women.  We got to sit on the 10th row from the front!?  THANKS Julie!
The ski lift ride at Sundance.  BEING "cute" like kids!!
ONLY rule of the day!!!  NO HIKING!!  Michael was NOT convinced...
Colors all around us!
Jerry checking in and Nancy sending out PEACE!
What a fun group!!  This was a great idea for a fall Sat. activity and good times...
Michael flew in from SFO midnight Friday and back out Sun. 7am...  Thanks AGAIN
to JENNA!!!
